Global Insurance Corporation (GIC) officially changed its name to Global Insurance Corporation on July 28, 2014, with approval from the Ministry of Finance. 

GIC was founded in 2006 and has been in the insurance, non-life reinsurance, and financial investment business for over 8 years. 

GIC is currently ranked among the top ten non-life insurance companies in Vietnam, with an operating network that spans nearly 60 provinces and cities, 18 member companies, 65 sales departments, and a team of employees. a highly qualified workforce of nearly 600 people GIC has provided non-life insurance services to over 30,000 corporate customers and over 1,000,000 individual customers to date.

One of the main insurance organizations in Germany and Europe, ERGO, and GIC entered into a strategic collaboration agreement in 2011. Munich Re, one of the top reinsurers and risk assessors in the world, includes ERGO. Through this collaboration, GIC has been able to significantly raise the caliber of its goods and client services.

The decision by ERGO to increase its share in GIC from 25% to 35% in 2013 demonstrates that ERGO has a strong conviction in GIC's capacity for growth in the Vietnamese market. In order to assist GIC with restructuring and innovation, ERGO sent competent members of the group to work there.
